Hi all. Beautiful day here today in Victoria, 20c, sunny, light breeze so took the XTerra 705 out for a hunt.
Was on the edge of an old gold lead where a home had once been in the late 1880 to early 1900s. Nothing left but some bricks here n there and lots of iron and junk. Detector in all metal sounded like a machine gun at times. Got some old stuff, old wooden handle pocket knife that has seen better days. Thought I had a coin but turned out to be a button face/top. Some other odd thing and shotty end.
Then a great solid mid range signal that stood right out amongst the rubbish.
Loved it when I saw the coloured glass. Not sure what it was. Top of a decanter type thing, no idea really but looked good.
So im checking it out, getting the dirt out of the neck and when I shook it I heard a rattle. Couldn't make it out so tried to clean it more back at the car then curiosity got the better of me and I got out a wire metal cutter and opened it up. The rattle was a seperate bit of rough broken glass that was once mirrored, that sat under the crimson coloured shaped bit on top.
Put together and cleaned in the sun this was the result. I guess once, when whatever it was, when whole, it probably looked spectacular in the light.
