Greetings!

I found this exploring Michigan's Upper Peninsula in 12 foot of water with my Minelab CTX 3030. It is approximately 1 3/8 inch diameter. This was an area frequented by British soldiers and Native Americans in the early 1800's. Any thoughts as to the history or origin of this cool find? Your input is much appreciated.

Welcome to T Net fellow Michigander! Wish I had an answer, very interesting find. Somebody here will know what it is!

Welcome to tnet.

Its a coat of arms of a family that maybe ID'able. Whats on the other side?
Whats it made of? (Lead?)
How big is it?

Nice relic! :occasion14:

That’s Cool!!! Congrats!!!

Thanks for the thoughts and well wishes! It registers a solid 12.26 on my CTX 3030 (perhaps lead). The back is smooth. Was it common for some families to craft shield tokens? The animal/bird on the top is a unique symbol that I can 't quite place but believe I have seen before. Any additional input or perspective is much appreciated. The animal on the top could be a beaver, it was a seemingly common icon for the colonists. Edit: Not sure if that is a beak at the bottom of it though, hard to see from pictures so that might be off.

I found an interesting halfpenny with similar characteristics: https://i.pinimg.com/736x/7f/49/65/7f496582b23d7af5bc85a82e47b5bf50.jpg

But with the back being flat I would think it is a seal as Ironhorse said.

If a beaver, maybe it belonged to someone who worked for the Hudson Bay Company?

To me it looks like a stylized boars head (wild pig)
