So I went digging today were I found a musket trigger guard to see if I could find the rest of it to no luck. I was digging a target and pops up this soap stone pipe that's carved I wonder if it's native American. That wasnt what I was expecting to pop up at all. I also found what might be a pen quil? Or part of the gun? And also I found a nice a little peace of silver on the part of the trail. Any info would be appreciated thanks for looking and happy hunting.

Native american no doubt. I would sure post this in the North American artifacts section for a good I.D. They will say go back and dig out the whole farm for the rest of it very nice and rare.

pretty sure that is a piece of a quill pen I believe its called the nib. great finds

Hey Justin,

This is a great piece, tragically broken.

Did you find it in a plowed field, in Connecticut? How do you think it got broken up? From this direction it looks like Catlinite, which if that's the case, it travelled far to reach your tribe.

More pictures, please. Do post it down in North American Artifacts The sharp eyed there will tell you more.

Thank you everyone I'm gonna post it in north american finds. The site this was found is colonial era in the middle of the woods. The pipe was not found in a field it was all tangled in tree roots and found actually digging a signal.

I'm thinking a mixture of frost and root growth probably broke this piece apart.

I gota sifter box...=ED

Cool finds...that is not a quill pen...it's another piece of your musket. It's the end piece where the ram rod seats...number 21 on the exploded view.

I'll shovel any amount of dirt into the right sifter:thumbsup:===ED

It is absolutely a ramrod channel musket part...no ifs about it!

This looks like a decorative escutcheon piece from a musket...I think you're well on your way to finding the whole thing!!!

I think I need to start looking for iron now

I just saw your thread with your trigger guard...based on the style you have definitely found the escutcheon plate...aka a thumb plate.
