Another one with possibilities.. Just killing time in the woods behind the monster-in-law's house over the holiday. Mid state, no reason for me to think there would be anything back there, other than an old house and property 2 miles away...but you never know.... found some recent coinage, tinfoil, beer cans, a computer disk...and this button. It was at the base of a tree and there was a strong signal from inside the tree stump as well, (? barbed wire probably).

Anyway, the button seems kind of archaic to be modern costume stuff... you can see the front well, the slightly off center cross with swirl and 12 tick marks. On the back, there is a line oriented with the shank, kind of hard to see in the picture but it runs straight across the entire button (maybe the telltale feature?). The back is so smooth and flat it forms a fairly sharp edge...part me knows it's not old.... but it "feels" old.

Still, it was the best find of the day...thanks for any input...

Looks modern to me.

If you turn it around abit you can see the letter E. Probably a logo for a make.

Thanks for the input. It looks less like an "e" in real time, although the shank is oriented verticle straight up and down through the center of the "e", if it is an "e"(if that makes sense) . I googled more including the "e" and only came up with Winnie the Pooh alphabet buttons.

For discussions sake, I showed this to several people while hunting a site and to a guy who usually will say "I have no idea" if he doesn't. They were quite enamored with the button and the one dude said the line on the back was a (type of mark I forget ::)) and could be as old as 1812.

So I have one guess modern, one guess possibly as old as 1812 and several oohs and aaahs.....
