Interesting Buckle

Went to a flea market this morning. A gentleman was selling a lot of his grandfathers old tools and other old items. I went through a old wooden box and at the bottom I found a brass buckle. I think the buckle was used as part of a horse harness but not real sure. What caught my attention was the CS stamped on the face. Now I'm not saying it stands for "Confederate States" but I'm not saying it don't ::). Your thoughts please. Thanks TomB

It is, I believe, a type of rosette... it slides onto the leather tack.

Obviously stamped CS by hand...

Somebody's initials? Confederate States?

Yeap, I think circa 1900 ???
