Somebody had posted a similar rock and it reminded me of this, instead of hijacking that post I made my own. I picked it up in an area where I find native trade goods and stone tools. To me it looks like it’s been in a fire but it’s the only rock I’ve found like it. I find the same type stone a lot and none of them have pitted to this extreme any ideas?

It's possible that it may have been utilized as a hide scraper.
 

I agree that it looks like a uniface scraper that was later exposed to fire. That's the most fire pocks I've ever seen on one small piece. Gives a good gripping surface now!
