It's a belt axe. They were popular among frontiersmen in the 1700's early 1800's. I can't say how old yours is though. Maybe someone will recognize the mark

Very interesting piece buddy. You can check with the Fur Trade relic guys here or with the axe guys at Bladeforums.com

Well it's an obvious re-handle so it may not have been a belt axe to start with, and to me it looks european. The europeans still make and use axes of that style and the mark looks european too. If it were an early fur trade era piece the marks would be much deeper struck. It also appears to be factory made, there is no hard steel blade with a mild steel folded over it to make the eye. Definitely a fairly modern factory made cast piece. I doubt if it is pre-1900.

Sorry I can't...I have been trying to figure that out for a long time.
Thanks for your help!

I believe its a Rubino. Try posting over at Bladeforums in the Bernard Levine subforum or the axe subforum, lots of knowledge over there. Good luck.

Maybe someone here can read it. It does look like Rubino.

Dang! One one my childhood Heroes Mingo, sported an axe like that. Came in pretty handy after you pulled the trigger on the one shot from your trusty Brown Bess and sink that axe in to the skull of next bad guy coming to attack ya. If a 3rd bad guy came you'd just swing that Brown Bess like you going for a home in run at his head. These days your Transformer does all your ass kick'n for ya.

My mom has one, much deeper stamping though. (clearly re-handled also)
