Inherited marbles with the latest being from the early 50's

Just thought I would post these. Moxie's been filling up the forums with great information, and I wish to extend my thanks to Cheese for the creation of Marbles as a new separate forum.

Cheese is the one who is supplying the great info (all I can take credit for is dumping my marbles on him for ID!!) Tx for sharing your pic. I am sure Cheese will be happy to see someone new here!

Thanks Moxie, I edited to credit Cheese.

There marbles were in a jar, and I remember seeing them when I was a young child, in the same jar. I'm living in the house my grandfather built in 1950 to 51 or 52 - at this stage of life I'm lucky to have those memories. I started developing a bit of curiosity about these marbles through your's & Cheese's postings. I doubt there's any of them remotely worth anything, and wouldn't sell them anyway.

I don't collect for the value of a marble either (maybe some day?) Right now I'm just enjoying myself. I only started collecting this past spring so I'm really quite new to it. I believe I see a Pelter Rainbo (at about 10 o'clock, the striped one next to the orange and white) and also perhaps the very top one. I see some Vitros in there too. I can't be of any help with their value; but I am sure Cheese will be on later in the day and will be verrry happy to see your post - especially after he sees how many swirls I threw at him!!!

I went to a marble identification site - not a really good site, didn't ID any of them there.

When I get time I'll take better pictures and post them in this NEW Marbles forum :)

These marbles were certainly used. Several have impact chips, but most of them are essentially perfect. And a few of them are really neat - at least to the eyes of someone who doesn't know what he's looking at!

Hello Deepseeker ADS!

Nice lil' group of marbles! They are mostly 1940s through early 1960s or so. I see several companies represented there. I don't see any rare or $$ marbles unfortunately, but most old marbles aren't worth a lot, they are just fun to collect and learn about. If you're interested in IDing them, post some closer shots of a few at a time.

Very nice marbles Deepseeker. I started picking them up while MDing at the beginning of 2015. I think that I have about 15 or so now. I will have to get a pic of all them, and see if Cheese spots any good ones in my pile.

Thanks for sharing!

I remember a number of times seeing marbles as a subject - sub-forum wasn't it? Now that it is a real forum, and Tom posts his, you might see interest picking up here. I'll take a couple or so of better pictures and post them today in between keeping the wood stove going. It was only supposed to be 32 degrees as a low, but I get up, fire is out - only a small bed of coals left, house is cold and it's 21 degrees. The battle begins!
