Yesterday I was MT late in the afternoon (almost dark) when I got a very strong signal......I couldn't believe what I found.......it was a gray and heavy ingot.
Almost got a heart attack!!!
Due the lack of light I couln't know for sure what it was.
Arrived home, cleaned it and with good light realize it was a lead ingot.
Interesting find but awsome feeling.

Hey, that's still worth something in scrap metal content. You could probably sell that and buy a few silver dimes with the proceeds.

Holy Hanna, I bet that blew your ears off! That's a load of fishing lead - :)

If that lead bar is old... it may be "low alpha"... then that bar is worth some bucks...

Look up "low alpha lead".

The older the lead, the more valuable it is for low-alpha purposes, like making special solders and special components.

That's one honking chunk of lead, 50lbs?

There's always a better market for lead ingot selling to boat builders, folks that do castings, or fishing weights, than at the scrap yard.

that sucker is probly heavy!, very cool

Looks like something you would tie around a dead body to sink it into water! Too heavy for a goose decoy weight .
Nice find ! HH!

I bet your ears are still ringing

Some auto body shops, the ones that do old hot rods, not very many but some still do the lead filled seams. There was one here that did it on the old cars so it would be period.

A nice chunk of history!
