Hello all,

I am hoping someone might be able to help me. I am trying to get any info on this button. It was given to me when my grandma passed away. It was in a old chest wrapped in tissue paper. No one in my family has any clue where she got it. All they can do is guess saying it might have been my grandpa's. I know he was in the service but that's about it.

What is the button made of? Is it painted or enameled in red? Where did your grandma live? Did she travel?

We need more info...

Cool looking button, though. Never seen one quite like it.

My gramdparents lived in Conn. I don't know whhat it is made of but it looks like it might be enameled in red but not sure. I did see one before but it didnt have the red and was in really bad shape. The man who had it told me it wasn't worth anything and he would take it off my hands. I wasn't looking to see if it was worth anything I just wanted to know something about it. I was doing my family tree and was trying to see if it had something to do with my grandpa James Gallop. The whole Gallop family are from Conn. And I know they were almost all in the service.

I dont know if this will help any but in the same old chest was some coins. (Pictures below)
My mom said my grandma never went to japan or china and as far as my grandpa he left when my mom was really young. Im guessing it was my gramdpa who got the coins and the buttons.
I did see looking at the buttons their gold color under the red (one has a scratch). Whatever the red is i could see its all cracked looking close up. I hope this info might help someone tell me something about them.
