This is the only eagle I managed to find so far, and it's damaged. I have seen them with embossing on the Shields but this one has an empty shield. I would like some info. on the different variations of the Shields and if possible to date this button

I wonder if I could repair this one..

Rich I have found out on them paper thin buttons your best bet is to just enjoy them the way they are. Even the slightest bend or crease in that metal will cause catastrophic results. Best bet is try and find one in better shape. But still a great find.

It looks to be civil war era and don't do anything to it. To fragile as you could ruin it. Good find. Tennessee digger

U.S. Army General Service CW to Indian War Period. Good Hunting. trk5capt...

How did you come to that conclusion?G.S. can pre date the C.W

Thanks guys, guess I'll leave it alone..
