Found another online but just said the same thing as you can read on the medal. You're better off researching the 23rd National convention to find out more, if there is much more. Maybe to whom they were given and exactly why I guess. But the why can probably be answered from any National convention as they probably did the same thing.

As a member of the American Legion...I'm assuming this is a medal/ribbon that is part of the 23rd National Convention held in Milwaukee, WI in 1941.

What a coincidence finding this when the upcoming 92nd National Convention will be held in Milwaukee in August.

I will do more research to find out more.

I just got off the phone with Kevin @ Legion Headquarters. They have a complete set of all the ribbons & badges from all the past national conventions in their museum. Yes, they're not awarded to anyone...it just something that can be purchased as a "souvenir" by any legionnaire attending these conventions.

Either this is from a collection of someone's Legion memorabilia, or from an individual who attended the convention in 1941. Again, that individual would had been a WWI veteran.

I believe the name of the medalist is Bunde (no 'r')
You're right. The "R" was a typo on my part. It belonged to either my Grandfather or Great Grandfather. I'll have to research a little more to see.

I did some research on the medal. In other words I called my brother and he told me the medal belonged to our Grandfather, who fought in WW1. I will green check it now. Thanks for the info.
