I understand this will be a bit biased because it's in the Garrett forum.

I have been thinking that I want to get back into the "swing" of things.

Had a White's XLT. It was a good machine but I was not finding the time I wanted to get out and dig, so I sold it to avoid major depreciation, figuring down the road I could get another.

Now is that time I am looking again. This time I am interested in doing some water searching. I would say that I would do probably 70% land, 30% water. Water would mostly be waist deep in ocean, but I want to work my way a little deeper in lakes and ponds. Maybe even down the road I could build up to underwater searching.

The Infinium LS seems to be the ticket. Yes it has a learning curve, but I would rather get a good machine up front.

So based on the 70/30 ratio, would this be the best choice?

I would say not a good choice for the land unless you meant beaches dry sand and not woods and grass. This is a great detector for the water, mainly saltwater. In freshwater, bobby pins can last decades and the Infinium will find them all. It doesn't have a pinpoint mode for good land searching, but you can do it off the tip or heel of the coil.

Good Luck with it,
Sandman
