I dug this silver ring up yesterday at an 1830's property in a CW battlefield area. It is a heavy mans ring with no markings on the inside. Any idea how old it could be, or what some of these symbols mean?
Here is a link to some American Indian symbols and meanings:
http://www.nativeamericantraditions.com/native-american-information/native-american-symbols.asp

The arrowhead would = Alertness.
The small arch could be sunrays (constancy) or rattlesnake jaw (strength) I suppose?
The large one maybe Teepee (temporary home) or Thunderbird track (bright prospects)?

Anyone want to give it a stab? ;D
Thanks,
MM

Used to buy and sell old style Indian jewelery. That has a 1940's + look to it. Sterling silver.
As far as the meaning of the decorations, Normally they were just random for tourist trade.

MM,
My father was native american, and he made saddle and silver jewelry.
He would use the leather stamp tools to make designs on the silver.
I can tell you for a fact that the designs are made from leather stamps
and they are no specific native american symbols.
I have tons of books on native symbols and I've just about memorized
them all.
Nice ring, though.

Ty,
Great info. Thank you so much. How old do you think the ring could be?

Some of the stamp designs are no lnger made, but I recognize
them from my dads tools that he used in the 50's and 60's.
I also think that hand stamping silver is not very popular any
more. Most designers are more into the dremmel or casting.
So, I'd have to guess 40's to 60's. Wide range, but best I can do.

Ty,
Thank you for the input on this one. At least I have an idea of the age now. It's a very cool ring. I may wear it myself.
Thanks Buddy,
MM

I may be way off base but I think the arrow head may be a boy scout symbol. Monty
