Hello everyone!
A friend of mine's son found this in the wall of their late 1800's house, I took a look at it and compared it to books, and it looks like a native stone axe.

What do all you experts think?

Yes, that's a nice authentic 3/4 grooved axe.

Yes definitely an axe and like flint hunter said a nice 3/4 groove. I’m been hunting for Native American artifacts for 25 years and have only found 2. So when you say in the wall you mean built into a stone wall or between 2 interior walls?
Also if you post this under Artifacts forum sub forum North American Indian Artifacts you may get some more info on it.

Yes, and thats an amazing find from an old wall. Here in Arizona, old time settlers built homes and so forth with adobe from the local streams and as a result artifacts like pottery sherds or even arrowheads can be found washing out of the old adobe walls, as they melt away. In other cases, settlers used Indian grinding stones (manos and metates) in fireplaces and stone walls and so forth. Ive seen pottery and lithic debris and metates and manos in old walls before, but never heard of an awesome piece like this coming out of a wall. Thats really incredible. It probably came from wherever the rest of the stone in the house came from, which is likely close by.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful information. This was in the wall cavity of the house. Old Pueblo, I like your idea of the axe coming from the area they got stone from. Thanks again!
