Hello,

I found these shards today and wonder if they are Indian. The large black piece I had to dig out of an embankment in the woods. The other shards were found around the area. The width is thin and they were found in eastern Kansas. Any thoughts on if they Indian would be great! Thanks!

Show pictures of the edges so we can see how they are made.

Appears to be old floor tile with black asphaltic mastic applied by trowel.....both probably contain asbestos, but are considered non-friable. Just don't grind it or sand it!

The stripes look like mastic put on with a trowel. I don't think Indians had notched trowels. Gary

Bingo. Floor tile or VCT and as mentioned, probably reinforced with asbestos. The sky is falling.

Thanks everyone for your insights... guess I’ll keep looking! Haha
