Indian net weight?

I was metal detecting a Florida gulf coast beach a few years ago and found a highly washed out area. This came up in the metal detecting scoop next to a very heavy metal item. I also recovered a megalodon tooth in the same area. Someone told me they thought it was an Indian net weight. Do you think this is correct?

Looks like a bead, either fashioned from stone, or bone, hard to tell from the photos

I'm leaning towards it being a personal adornment item over a net weight, but I could be wrong? It's just what I think it is, because of the refinement of it. Nice find and you ought a see what the folks in the N American Indian forum have to say about it.

Didn't them Buttoneer things back in the 70s. Come with one-hole buttons?
