Detector(s) used
Started with a Minelab xterra 505. Then Equinox 600 with stock coil, xl coil and sinper coil depending on circumstances. Now use a manticore.
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
I never detect this place past May. But against better judgment I put on long pants, bug spray and delt with the mosquitoes and poison ivy. It's not a fun place. 110 yeaes of trash dumped on top of the stuff you want. Everything from pull tabs, nails, shell casings, brass from old light bulbs even an ice cream scoop.

Running total on Indians is now 17. Most are 1864 or 1881. This particular 1864 is the nicest of the bunch.

It's about time something else besides a 1 cent coin came out of here. I won't argue with a 2 cent piece. Yeah it is the most common year but I've never dug one. Also got a little brass ring that says friendship on it, a little piece of silver (marked sterling on back) and a clay pipe stem that says " Gambier Paris m 🌟 M Deposé "

Good pipe stem. I believe the partial words above and below the “*M” will be “Gambier” and “à Paris” followed by “Déposé” (impressed/moulded) and sometimes further followed by a mould number.

This is Jean Gambier, a quality French pipe maker founded in 1780. The factory (located in Givet) closed in 1926. Difficult to put a date to a fragment, but probably late 19th Century.

I had to laugh at your description of the hunting conditions at this site....it sounds all too familiar! Despite the mosquitos and other hazards, I completely undersatnd your desire to get back to this spot. Congrats on your first 2-cent piece! They certainly are beautifully designed coins. Congrats!

Really appreciate the info. It's the only stem I've found with any markings.

Thank you! Yea it's a mess. But I've convinced myself there has to be a mid 1800s silver in there somewhere. Guess technically the ice cream scoop is a bucket lister to haha 😄 my 1st and only. Unfortunately it went in trash as it wasn't really old and broken.

kinda hard to tell from the photos but that IH looks real crisp. Pretty sure all of the word liberty is fully visible. looks barley circulated. or it could just be the side light giving extra contrast. Lets see a close up with overhead light bub

This is more direct overhead light. Than original photo. One cent side is really nice.

Congrats on the great finds !
Thank you. It's one of those places you go back to and just dig everything even though it's slow going. Given what's come out it's been worth the effort and itching.

Very Cool!!!! Congrats!!!! Especially on the 2 Cent Piece in Good shape!!!

Hard work and determination produces some very nice finds- Congrats! That 64 Indian is sweet- couldn't tell from the pic but any L on the ribbon (this one or some of the others)?

Nice finds. I really like the Civil War era date on the 2-cent piece, and it looks to be in great shape. Congrats!

Thank you. Haven't been on here in a bit. I thought I found all the Indians last year. But then went back off and on this year and ended up with an 1871 indian, 1876, and 3 x 1864s, a 1797 drapped bust and the 2 cent. Your definitely right determination and also patience to pick up all the trash masking everything. I'll loop the Indians.
