This is an Indian figurine I found yesterday. Only think of note I found amongst the 10 or so memorial pennies. I thought it was Bobafet till I cleaned it up, lol. I'll post the video tomorrow of my reaction. It also has a hole at the top of his head. I was a little bummed overall that I found no coins. The property was right across the street from my parents' where I found some rather old coins. Oh well!

that's a cool find.

Thanks guys. I didn't think it had writing on the bottom, but it does! I have more cleaning to do to decipher it, but based on a quick web search methinks Barclay or Lincoln Logs. I'm sure I'll find out more quickly in What Is It.

Granthansen, Another great find, congrats. You have a Britains Indian Brave in 54mm. The bottom of the stand reads, "Copyright Britains Ltd. Proprietors, Made in England." Circa 1920's to 1950's. Happy Hunting, Sub

I knew you'd be the man who provided the positive ID! I actually tried filming the dig and mentioned your name as I cleaned it off, but seems like my camera wasn't on :(

Also, based on pics I've seen I think the musket tip has been broken off.

Why thank you Sir. I am pretty versed in post 1900 soldiers, but those pre-1899 ones can be very hard to identify. The older ones were usually thin and break/disfigure easily underground. The old ones were also home made in many instances, so quality control and consistency were off too. I have yet to dig a soldier, and am hoping my luck changes this year! Sub

That is quite a nice find there!

Nice find Grant! Here's a similar figure (soldier) I found a few years back. Maybe Sub can ID this one too.

Looks like it's the same maker.Even the same posture, perhaps reused.

Very cool! Great digs and an awesome save!

Eric in NJ, Your guy originally came painted in detail in the uniform colors of the US Army, listed in the Britains catalog as, "American Blue "Federal Dress" On Guard listed as coming from the "1906" set of four different poses. His head would have had the Span-Am slouch hat and his rifle looked like a M1903 with a long bayonet! Keep digging those little guys, Sub

Thanks Sub!! You are a treasure trove of knowledge regarding these items. I really appreciate all the detailed information!

Best, Erik

Thanks Erik, I have a soft spot for old toys, and gathered many reference books over the years. Half of the battle in identifying any artifact is just knowing "where to start?" Thank goodness that some great individuals create or created collector books for us all! Sub

Wow, nice find! Congrats and HH!

I love that find! Makes me picture a little boy playing outside with his cowboys and Indians and, sadly , left one behind...
