If any of you are experts I would love some info on ID'ing the different kinds of points and such... many of these are from the Pleistocene Park "private property" these artifacts have been saved from a giant machine trying to turn them into sand, some were either found or given to me through out the years. jd

J. D., I am just green with envy. :o LOL WOW, those are really amazing, beautiful colors too. Great finds!!

I am no expert but you have a good variety, Archaic, Woodland, etc. Probably some of those may be as old as 1500 to 3000 b.c. or older! Tsgman

Definetly PM badandy on this,he's probably got some answer's for you.Anyhting new new's on the 1870 yet.Thanfor sharing the artifact's.HH!!

Just beautiful finds JD!

;)

Hey j.d.,
? ? I looked at your pics. and it looks like you have stuff from every time period(paleo to woodland and hopewell).? I see good hardstone artifacts looks like a discodial, gameball, and nice groved axes, and possably a celt or two. I know that the full groove axes are the oldest ones and it will take awhile to explain why, so shoot me an e-mail if you would like to know what I do about axes. Points look like various flint and Mozarkite which is what lots of points are made out of in Mo. Hope this helps and post more if you have'em and if not thanks for sharing these with us and I'd be happy to help you in anyway I can.
? ?Sincerly,
? ? ? badandy

P.S. Where they all field finds or where some river and creek finds? If some where found in rivers or creeks than that might account for some of the different colors!

Great stuff, Your house must be better than some museums.
I noticed a drill... 2nd pic, 2nd from top left. I also see what I was tought to be known as bird points and thumpers.
(Dulled tip for stunning) you may also have some Atlatl points....Cool pottery too.

gota love that stuff!!

Those are some nice points J.D. Did you ever think about becoming a archeologist. You'd probably make some great discoveries. You have a eye for treasure.

Wow, very nice collection you got there. I would love to find a grooved axe one of these days. All the points I have found here in Missouri have been made of Burlington Chert, some heat treated and some not. I beleive you live farther south than I do though, so the materials could change the farther you go south. Mine don't look like the majority of those.

Congrats on the mother load. Hope you display them.

Great stuff jd! I had some of those grinding stones put aside in the woods when I was a kid and when I went back to get them there were houses on the site. cladius.

jd- just wanted to tell you I finally broke down and got myself a refurbed XLT and most of my recent finds have come with it...I love it..Its suits my detecting style better than the exploder.......I've been using the tone id........hope you and the family are well...aloha

NICE FINDS....YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DATE THE POTTERY BY THE COLORS AND THE MARKINGS....THERE SHOULD BE SOME KIND OF REFERANCE TO THE INDIAN POTTERY IN YOUR AREA ON THE NET....THAT WOULD GIVE YOU SOME PLACE TO START.
JUST MY TWO CENTS
