I went to a friend of mines place in Kentucky to do a little point hunting this weekend. First trip I have been able to make all year! The first day we went to a field where you only find pottery, shell, and fire stones. Found a decent amount of pottery I scanned the cooler pieces below.

The next day we went to a farmers field that has given up some real nice pieces including a ton of axes and at least 2 clovis points. I found 2 decent reworks and 2 nice points. My friend found probably a half a dozen nice points and a few reworks as well. Here are the pics of the two points and one of the reworks I found. It was a pretty fun weekend but it was way too cold!!!!

Nice stuff Alan,,, WTG!!!
I'm glad you were able to get out. It's been too cold for me here too, until today, but hopefully spring is on it's way.
Good luck, & Happy hunting~

Unique finds, Alan. :D

I've been finding a lot of pottery too. Posting just about everything I find, hope you saw them!!

How can you identify a "rework"?

HH :)

I got your point, LOL, very nice finds! HH, ike

Leon - Its amazing how you can ignore the cold when you are finding stuff but it was cold when we stopped!

River Rat - On a rework you should be able to see new chipping on a broken edge. I dont know if you can really see in the scan of the notched point but it was broken in half and that edge has now been chipped sharp again. Reworks are almost my favorite points, its kind of easier to imagine them using the point for a long period of time then some of the points that come out with no wear marks at all.

Yeah but I had to drive 5 hours to do it! I am trying to find some new spots a little closer to home now. I will be at the show in March, I'll try to figure out where your booth is this time. lol
