Indian Artifact?

I found this stone walking along a creek in Central Ohio. It didn't look like any of the other rocks around it so it caught my eye. When I pulled it out of the mud I realized that it looked a little like a hatchet head. It definitely didn't look natural. I also noticed what looks like a fish carved on one side (hard to see, see picture with blue circle). I wasn't hunting for treasure, just walking along. Anyone have any idea if this is something I should keep, or throw it out?

Cool looking but, I think it was formed by nature. Keep looking because there are plenty of artifacts just waiting to be found.

Does the “blade edge” show signs of being sharpened, either by flaking or grinding/polishing? Does it show signs of use? Almost looks like one face could have been ground flat, but it doesn’t look horribly promising based on photos alone.

it has the shape of a hoe, but if it were it would show use wear.

Well, unfortunately, I don't think I can say one way or the other. I wouldn't know what to look for.

You NEVER know, some items where I live in Florida people would never know it was a Native American item for example. My best advice would be to check with local indian artifacts from your area and museums etc. It took me awhile to realize that things I passed by or found were indeed not just artifacts, but major artifacts and used heavily for my area. Other's would think just a "shell"....
