I recently returned from my girlfriend's grandmothers 100 year old dairy farm where we visited her 88 year old grandmother... She has been a collector for most of her life and has rooms filled with antiques which she knows absolutely everything about with the exception of a couple odd pieces that had even her puzzled... this being one of them.

I don't recall exactly how she came to own this piece but it may have been found at some point on the farm... I confused some of the many stories I was told through the course of the day... Anyway, I told her that I would ask the Tnetters what they thought since there are so many knowledgeable people here, it's the first place I thought of and well, everyone likes a good puzzle.

What I do know:
- It measures approx 18" long
- The curved handle is a bone from what I would assume, some type of animal

I'd like to not only figure out what exactly it is but also date it. I originally thought it may have been used to strip grain from a stalk or something along those lines ???

Thanks for looking! - Wit

I would guess gardening tool also maybe just for weeding. Looks like it had four tines and the two outside ones broke off. looks to be deer antler handle.

The handle does look like antler and it looks as though it is fairly short so I would think it would be something used in a kneeling position after saying that I would believe it is a type of weeder for the garden.
