:icon_scratch:I found this in the swamps around the texas louisiana border along with alot of other strange things, you can see hand prints melded into it, from long periods of use and perfectly fits in your left hand. Its almost a cerimonial feel when you match your hand to the imprints....Does ANYONE know what this artifact could be??? Please!

It appears to be just a rock, aka geofact...keep on lookin...

Gentlemen, It's some fossilized wood that appears to have been modified for a job, maybe pottery related. Can't see it with my hands and eyes at the same time. I've found a lot of petrified wood from east Texas towards the coast. From the west side of the San Jacinto River and beyond most of the lithic source is Edwards and colorado river gravels. It seems east of there including Trinity river and the east side of galveston bay the cherts dissapear and petrified wood (which is quite prevelant in East Texas and West La. piney woods) is more common. Seen it over and over in local collections. G.

It looks like a crude unfinished eagle effigy.

Mother nature makes millions apon millions of rocks that imagination can turn into an artifact. I have picked up hundreds and hundreds of plain rocks that fit my hand perfectly and I could think of ways they could be used, but they were still just rocks....

Better luck next time....
