Hey folks. Went to my go-to spot that I have pounded for the past year first step after turning on the Etrac, I got a wonky bouncy signal going from 09-41 to 11/12-47. Pulled an 1899 Indian Head then about 2" deeper in the same hole, a piece of something that I THINK is silver. It reads solid 11-47. Any guesses I. What it could be? Thanks for looking and HH

Ummmm, how big is the piece? Buckle sounds right.

Thanks bud. It's good to be back in the game! The piece is about 2"x 1"

I think shoe buckle part is correct - does it seem like the two finds are related ? in addition to the buckle part being 2 inches deeper,
it is from aprox . a century earlier than the Indian Head cent ?

Looks like you are on to a good site.Nice looking indian.HH

The depth and age of the finds from that site correspond. Late 19th century items are 2-4 inches shallower than the really old stuff (1787 Massachusetts cent, 1797 cartwheel penny). I would say it's older that the IH.

Shoe buckle frame...a piece of one anyway...
I agree with romeo. Part of a shoe buckle frame.... and a nice one at that. The silver ones don't turn up too often.

Very nice finds, congrats!
