FOUND IN STANISLAUS COUNTY CALIFORNIA. APPROX 3" across. It's flatter on one side than the other. Thought it could possibly be one of those game stones. Have never FOUND one one before, so I could be wrong.

Looks like a stone primitives would have ground herbs or medicine on.

Could be a grinding stone for (grains) these are pics of how it could have been used.download.jpgimages.jpgThe flat rock with the stone on it is called a metate. The granite boulder shows grinding holes that would have served the same purpose as the metate but it would have been for a permanent settlement.Wandering tribes would have used a metate or tribes that didn't have large boulders nearby.

Looks like some kind of grind stone. Either way, its so round its got to be something. Nice find.
