These were found in VA, Newport News. I have no clue on buttons, I was given these to start me off metal detecting.
Any help would be much appreciated. I'll post the rest, soon as I get these identified. TY.

I believe the last one shown (res11) is for the Army's Signal Corps. I was assigned with the Signal Corps while stationed in Italy (I was Navy ;))...

Update: just did a google search and that is what it is.....here's a link for what it looks like in color :)

http://www.tioh.hqda.pentagon.mil/branches/Signal.htm

The one that has US on it...I believe to be a collar device that Army personnel wore. My father had one....I remember him always using BRASSO to shine up his buttons/devices!!! They were gold in color.

AABattery is correct..the top one is for Quartermaster....here's a link and it also shows a collar device for US.

I believe RES49 is as pictured on this link for Command Sgt Major: http://www.militaryvetspx.com/unencodes.html

I believe RES34 and RES36 could be what is pictured on this link....the "G" and "F" could be the companies they were assigned to: http://www.militaryvetspx.com/inencodes.html

And if these were found in Newport News, it is possible they came from some of the guys from Ft Eustis....maybe, maybe not....but it would make sense. Just can't give you an age on the ones you have.

Can't figure out the one with the crown....looks to be a button to me though...but I could be wrong...

Thankyou all very much, its nice to know what they are. Thankyou for the links too, much appreciated.
The button with the crown on, is obviously English, sure my father will have details on that one.
As I said I was given these to start me off, sure got me interested, although I haven't found anything of interest yet,I shall carry on this summer.
Thanx again guys, for your time.

Jim, I don't see anything on the backs, there is debrie on them, even the hooks/screws are missing, even the clean one hasn't anything stamped on the back of it.

please advise... is there a mark or words on the back of the button? What does it say?

Right... I should have been more clear. The "collar brass" pins/screwbacks would have nothing on the back, but the crown "button" might have... thats what I was specifically asking about. :)

Thanks for the reply.
