My soon-to-be father-in-law, proposed that with the wooden handle, it was probably used to pick up something hot. He used to farm, and I utilize his help in IDing old relics. He also said it looks like a potatoe roaster...lol

Hey Jim, About how big is it? I've seen one of these before, and I'm racking my brain to try and remember where and who had it.

Don't know 'bout that particular one Dg. Mine, if i recall correctly was maybe twixt 10 and 12 inches overall. Mine also was a wee bit different in that it had four prongy pokey thingies. lol, and was a bit wider by maybe 1/2 er 3/4 of an inch.

Well that eliminates "mole trap"

Now, that's interesting. My father-in-law, born 1909, once used an electric charcoal lighter from the outdoor grill that looked a little like that to melt the inside plastic of his freezer. :D :D :D

Maybe he remembered one of those . . . and his intentions were good.

That actually makes sense. The spiky end does look like an old ice chopper, while the scoop-like part would block it from stabbing the freon-containing parts of the freezer... don't tell my landlord, but I made that mistake once. :D
