Hey all! Just recently moved from the dark, soft soil of south florida to the hard, rocky red clay in maryland, and i'm looking for a new digging tool. I've been doing a ton of research and quickly saw that the lesche is rather popular. Does anybody have any experience with the lesche and red clay? Or perhaps another tool that might work better? Thanks!

The Lesche is a great digging tool and plenty strong.
Sharpen the edges with a file (not to sharp!) and it is even better!

i use a garden shovel much like the lesche , but i got it at lowes for alot less.

it has 1 side serrated to cut with and has a ruler stamped in the face.

definitely get the lesche. I broke 3 lesser digging tools before ponying up for the right tool for the job. I carry two digging tools along with me. The lesche for cutting a plug or slit and I also use one sold by kellyco called the sawtooth gator digger. When I need to go deeper than the plug I cut with the lesche I break out the gator. It has a nice scoop shape that pulls out a good scoop of dirt and quickly gets me down further without making the plug hole any bigger. The two tools complement each other well.

i dont have one yet but have borrored a friends 18'' relic lesche what a back saver just a big version of the smaller hand trowel
