About a month ago I realized that I was at 29 IHPs FTY. So I decided to go for 30 (a nice round number). Finally around 3:30 PM on Christmas Eve, just before I had to go to my parents for a family dinner, the dirty thirty finally showed her face. Here she is....
Over the last three outings, while trying to collect the 30th, I found a few other things I haven't posted.
On one hunt, I got a 1912 V nickel and what I believe is a gold ear ring, although it's not marked.
On another I dug the largest broach I have ever found. It was deep and when I finally saw a large oval at the bottom of the hole, my first thought was a military buckle, but no such luck
My last outing, December 24, I got lucky and dug a Union Pacific "luck piece".
Looks like it's a mid-1930s piece. But mine's not dated. http://www.brianrxm.com/comdir/cnstokmed_railroad.htm
I also dug an early drawer pull escutcheon that is a match to one I dug earlier on this property. The earlier one (on the left) has some additional hardware
Some of the better items recovered in pursuit of "dirty thirty", including a nice "shooter" size clay marble found in the same hole as a flat button.
Of course it wouldn't be right to ignore the less fortunate relics such as busted spoons and crotal bells
Happy Holidays to all and good luck in 2020!
