I stopped to buy a ice cream cone and poured my change out when I spotted a shiny quarter that differed from the others. I turned it over and low and behold it was a 1935 Silver Quarter that I must have received in change from a past purchase. Times are tough right now and people are probably raiding grandpa's coin collection and spending silver coinage at face value. This goes into my scrap silver coin box as it is well worn but in hyperinflation could be worth a lot. Check your change.

got yourself a nice 5-6dollars there =)

I love it when that happens. I got several silver dimes and a couple IH cents over the course of a week or so at a local convenient store not too long ago. I think some kid was raiding their parents coin collection. Never did get any quarters though.

Nice catch, I always look at my change too. WTG!!

Wow, thats an oldie too

Im still waiting for some silver in my change...I work with a guy that seems to get Silver quarters back alot when he goes out..i usally give him half of spot, and he is happy

They started minting Washington quarter in 1932 right? I dont think I've even seen one. I think that '35 there is the oldest one I've seen. Has anyone found an earlier one? Puts a new perspective on the Washingtons- cool!

Thought I saw a '32 posted not too long ago...I'll get searching...

Yes, it still is possible! I'm always checking my change. I wonder if grandma or grandpa aren't raiding their own collection with money being so tight these days.

I would love to get that in my change!!
My first silver quarter was a '32, the 32-S is a big (relatively) money coin. HH All !!

Got a 1937 buffalo nickle at self check out change machine amount was 2.94 put in 3.00 and got the buffalo and a 1974 copper penny considered buying more for another try but didn't push my luck

I sometimes ask the cashier if they have anything strange in their drawer but they always look at me funny. I say, you know like half dollars or foreign coins? Always the same blank stare... I'll keep asking though!
