I was doing some CRH and I got a full box of uncirculated 2017 dimes. I was bummed at first, but then I found these. What do you guys think?

If they are "black beauty" dimes, what kind of value do they hold?

The one on the left is slightly lighter than the one on the right, but the picture makes it appear much lighter.

Thanks for the input ,
Bug

I've found quite a few more in subsequent rolls. Any help on if they are "Black Beauty" dimes?

That is very interesting! Not my realm of expertise, so wait for Frank on this call.

Sorry but it is not within my area of knowledge! It does appear similar to some of the "Black Beauty" Nickels but keep in mind that it was struck on a Planchet of completely different composition.

Thanks for your input, guys! I found about 20 in that box, all uncirculated. Hopefully someone else might be able to chime in with some more info.

i dig a lot of dimes that come out that color. Could be found coins from a detectorist.

with the usual suspects exonerated--- run it by Mike Diamond, [email protected].

I will email Mike, but I posted on a coin forum and I got mostly confirmations and one saying that they could be plated. I think I ruled that out, but I wanted to show a picture of all the dimes surrounded by "normal dimes"

Why would they say they were plated? Some of these coin sites with their so called "experts" really get me!

I know!

Anyway here's what mike said "They certainly show every indication of having been struck on improperly annealed planchets.":hello2:

hey someone else on another post found new pennies like this as well....thinking the mint had an issue

What do you guys think I should do with them? Spend the money to get them graded? Or sell on Ebay/to a coin shop?

just hope the Philly Mint NEVER fires any staff------their screw ups make me good money with errors :laughing7:

Send one to Mike to look at in person. Once verified send one to Wexler with a copy of Mike's email. He can then send you a letter to send with them to a grading company. I personally would have them graded and then test the market!

that bein' some REALLY QUALITY ADVISE :notworthy::toothy4:
