I found this object in association with an number of others down a steep hillside: http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/t...perial-relic-very-high-steep-stream-bank.html

It is 5.75" long and about .75" in diameter.
It is chrome or silver plated inside and out.
There is a wood core.
The tip is screwed in place and the larger diameter end is held with an adjustable band.
It is marked IMPERIAL with an older style font of lettering.

My first thoughts are part of an adjustable tripod leg.

Others have suggested some sort of syringe because there is a company that has been around for quite awhile that made syringes. Could the wood core have functioned as a primitive plunger?

I am thoroughly stumped... ???

Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks and Happy Hunting!
Nick

Hey, Bruce R. Interesting but I think it's a bit to flimsy and uncomfortable of a grip.

Fishing rod.
So far, based on other posts I've observed you have yet to be incorrect, DCMatt. Although I can't find any matching examples I can definitely see how this could transition a larger handle to a thin, flexible shaft. I am so close to marking this solved...

I think that you might just be correct, jewelerguy about DCMatt being correct...

My first impression, was some sort of nozzle for the end of a hose. An old one.

Thanks for weighing in, jacobgosling! Problem is, although it's hard to tell from the photos, it has a wood core. I originally thought the wood might slide up and down inside it like a plunger, but the small screws seem to be fastening the wood in place. A fishing rod, as DCMatt suggests, might make more sense since the fat end would suggest that it had a longer handle and the narrow end had a long flexible shaft... :icon_scratch:

It does kinda look like this Fishing rod for fly fishing. Not the same brand but looks close I think. Found these pics on ebay.
I wonder if imperial is the name of the pole not the brand name?

DCMATT identified the object immediately. He probably goes fishing three times a week like me. After detecting, what's better than fishing?

Although it's not the same brand it's identical, NakedBee! A big thanks again to DCMatt was the first to identify it :notworthy:, and to you who nailed it with the photo. Thanks to both of you I am 100% convinced and hereby mark this thread SOLVED. :occasion14:
