Wonder if it's some type of German American friendship pin. I don't see it being a military pin per se, but I've been wrong before.

With some sporadic use in early German history, the colors on the shield were used from approximately 1919 to 1933, then after WWII around 1949 they reverted back to these colors.

I’ve just been looking at imperial german pins and medals , and yours doesn’t resemble them at all . I think your pin is American, signifying a particular military division or regiment. Also, German pins almost always used oak leaves, not a laurel wreath.

Kind of Necro-Posting but..........

Came across another copy of this badge posted in another site and remember one was posted here. Even if the OP doesn't come back, the ID will be here if another one ever gets posted.

It`s a US Labor Service/Civillian Support "Dienstzeitauszeichnung" (commemorative and good conduct badge) for German personnel serving for the US Forces in Germany. They were given for 10, 20, 30 etc years of service with the US Forces. Being metal it probably dates from the 1970s and on.
