Imaginary silver on paper vs real silver in your hand

LMAO That's definitely one place I WOULDN'T go for advice. CNN are you kidding me. Lol Stack The Physical.

i sell you 10k in share of silver for a buck apeice then tell you the market crashed and lost everything but you still have your interest of .00000000000000000000000023 cents per 50 shares so it is ok don't worry it bounce back

It's said "If you can't hold it, you don't own it." There have been accusations that some sell the same metal as paper more than once.
I immagine there are people that still stack paper money in a matress but I don't know why.

Damn extra liquidity that comes with a cost! God forbid I pay a premium above spot price, especially for existent metal!

I'll reiterate "if you can't hold, you don't own it". When it comes to PMs, stacking is the only way!

Well, I don't disagree from a long term holding perspective. But a legitimate short term investment strategy is investing in ETFs with the knowledge that you are not investing in real PMs. In that case you are treating the ETF as if it is just a stock. After all, if you buy Apple or Google stock, what are you really getting other than an empty promise? If a company goes belly up the common stock is worthless and you typically lose your entire investment. So playing SLV or GLD as if it is a stock is no worse than playing the stock market. And it gives you the ability to make a short term play without having to worry about losing a significant amount of money on buy/sell spreads and the costs associated with buying/selling physical metals. I've used this strategy to my advantage many times in the past on short term pull backs.

But overall I agree that if you are talking about physical metals, you don't own it unless you hold it in your hand or have it buried on property that you own (that last part was just a joke). :happysmiley:

I guess that jokes on me TP69 as I have quite a bit buried on my land. LMAO Silver that is. Lol
