I'm Trying!

I took some more moon pictures tonight starting with no zoom and increasing to full optical zoom. In the third picture the camera focused on the trees. This old goat has a lot to learn. Hopefully I will remember some of it!:laughing7:

Very good pics. I know an eagle's nest that gives an awesome view of the sitting bird, but branches of the tree it is in are like a magnet for autofocus.:BangHead:

Need to learn to use manual focus. ....No, not you - ME!! :laughing9:

I was using the "Moon mode" on this camera. It was supposed to focus on the center of the frame where the moon was. Evidently enough of the tree was also in the center so the camera focused on it. As soon as I zoomed in a little more the focus was back on the moon. what I thought was weird was that the pictures I took last night are identical to the ones I took tonight as far as the moons position. I thought it would have rotated a little so that different features would be visible.

If you took the images within 15 minutes +/- of last night's pic, you probably wouldn't notice a difference.

As for the "camera" deciding what to focus on, that's probably what I miss most about my old Minolta X370. Definitely don't miss the film developing costs!!
