is it threaded on the inside, because to me it looks like more of a cap to something then a bullet :icon_scratch:

Most definitely not a bullet.
Saying that, I have no Idea what it could be, but I am tagging it. Looks neat, cool find!

Nope. Smooth and concave.
Honestly, the only reason I'm saying bullet, was 'cause when I was coming back home with it I ran into some other detectorists and showed it to 'em. One of said he thought it was a bullet but couldn't tell me more.

The one thing that makes it look like a cap to me is the diagonal lines, usually for better grip of something that you twist or something. just my oppinion tho, the diagonal lines are not a characteristic i have ever seen on a bullet

Absolutely a shotgun slug. Those molded-in grooves are not from the rifling of a barrel. This slug is for smoothbore shotguns. The built in grooves actually grab some air will in flight and help impart spin. Like the helical feathers on an arrow. These slugs are hollow-base like Minie Balls to expand in the bore and seal the gas better. This design also allows more lead weight up front to further aid in stability. Like a dart you throw at a board.

If you like shotguns and things like this, I wrote a story in the "Everything" forum recently about a man I know who shot and sank a large sailboat with a slug just like the one pictured. It's under "Sinking Sailboats".
