Asking him whether he is open to fast tracking the permitting process in Florida for shipwreck salvage? Does anyone remember if he was for or against it in his last term? Don't mean to start a political debate here just looking for some insight!

I don't want to get political either, and I know this is after the fact, but it doesn't really matter what he was for or against in his last term, that all changes from day to day with that guy.

Any politician will tell you whatever they think you want to hear...especially at a fundraiser!

One of my friends was a big contributor to him in his last run, and will attest to the fact that many things he says and does publicly are a sham, and all for appearances, so I wouldn't worry too much about anything he told you last night, if he even commented on it.

The thing to do is, wait to see who wins, then present a logical proposal as a group, with as much local, political support as you can muster.

Ours is an issue where most people will intuitively trend in our favor, until the whinging, bullshit 'academic' narrative muddies the waters.
Most people won't have an opinion one way or the other on TH'ing so I really think it's a mistake to write him off, based on unrelated poltics, on this issue in particular. Making our case could be what ultimately cements his opinion in our favor.

There are a hundred different reasons why ours is the objectively correct position. In this field, we are the do'ers, they are the 'theorists'.

This is true with all politicians.

Think about it from the lawmakers prospective, "How do this get me more money, fame, positive media coverage...?"

When you can present it in a way that benefits them individually... then will you have a chance of success.

Their is no Lobby for these rights, and their is no lawsuits, class action or otherwise, fighting this cause at this moment. Their may be some individual trying to go up against Big Government over this grave injustice alone. And probably for good reason , as most of the 'Hunter's' are either working the search full-time, or, they are working folk, and do this on the side. That being said, until enough like-minded folks come together and fund this type of action, it will stay the status quo.
