My wife bought me these huge Coca-Cola banks last December and they're all filled up. 43.8 pounds of clad. I wonder how much it's going to be. I will half to give these coins a bath any suggestions on where to cash these in? My bank doesn't have a counting machine should I at least wrap the quarters? Or should I just go to coin star? I would (and have) sort and roll all the silver and take the pennies to coinstar

I clean and roll my nickels, dimes and quarters and deposit it at the end of the year into my hobby account. The pennies go through coinstar.

Do you remember how much you ended up with?

Pick up a cheap postal scale. I just stack 25 pennies on & zero it. do this for dimes then nickels. Not 100% accurate, but it'll give you a good idea. Or just stack pennies in a stack of ten on a table then drop a pile next to it and take off what's over the height of the first stack & on & on. Sounds more tedious than it is and you can roll straight from there!

Looks like $293.50 in clad. No clue on the pennies.

Last year's coin face value dug was $337.90. The picture has $316.11. $1.86 in pennies were rejected by the coinstar.

Buy a cheap coin sorter. Place the coin sorter in a very large bowl and leave out the penny tube. All the pennies fall into the bowl and it makes sorting and rolling the silver MUCH. Easier.

Hey Loco You're checking what the coinstar's kicking back again I hope. I know you do, just have to ask. The one I dump at will take some crusties but kicks back wheats I've missed. All I could get from a tech was weight was one of the tests the machine does and they'redialed in for clads. Baffles me how it'll kick out wheats but will accept probably 80% of my crusties if I put them through two maybe three times.

Take a pencil or pen with a ball of sticky on the end, the sour apple gum balls next to the coinstars works great! Check the perforated tray where you put your coins. I can't count how many diamond & CZ studs, gold charms etc. I've pulled through the holes! Maybe we should start a thread on the weirdest thing you got out of Coinstar machines?

We use our quarters for the car wash!!! The desert can be a dirt place!!!!:laughing9: When I am working night shif, i'll check all the drive-through's in town and pick up the change left on the ground.....That's our Lotto Ticket $.....Someday:laughing7:

Some casinos still have counting machines, so, you might try there if you can resist the urge to gamble it all away! :laughing7: With the CoinStar machines, I usually get the store credit at 100% rather than take the 10% hit for cash. The clad that keeps getting rejected gets mixed in with my "good" pocket change and gets spent. Stores usually don't look too close when you hand them a bunch of change. Some don't even count it if it looks about the right amount. In this day and age, I suspect some of the clerks don't even know how to count it! They sure don't bother counting back your change anymore when you give them bills.
