I had a nasty run-in with identity theft.
Had to change email, phone number, passwords, bank accounts...

I can’t say for sure who got me or how, but it’s been a nightmare that I don’t wish on anyone.

I fully agree with you on the not wishing it on anyone. Happened to me 8 yrs or so ago, a IP addy out of North Bay Ont. is all we were told.
Tried to get $35K out of our main branch using information off a Canadian detecting site-(Always good to have a personal relationship with bank) The bank called and were sort of that I was doing a big antique purchase on the west coast.
So we locked it down and the person tried at 2 other banks-now how did they know that
Turned out to be a hack with the Bell Sympatico Email Acct. (they never notified users)
Big time hassle-got a buddy Admin. on the site to erase my history, switched IP, transferred 14,000 emails.......frigging hassle.
A crime that is hardly ever investigated by the authorities....
