I'm Back...Big gold..big silver!!!

after my gold/silver streak was broken yesterday
low tide was at 635pm - got in at 500pm
wind had picked up - good size swells - didn't think it would be worth it to get in
boy was I wrong - told my gal - viz is gonna be bad and probably not gonna get as low as
its supposed to be with the rough water - I got in and went right out to chest deep and turned machine on...
right off the bat I got a loud blast - stuck my face in and was surprised the viz was not bad = 8 on scale of 10
I could see a brass lure sticking out and scooped it up - went about 5 feet ...nother blast ...scooped up
a pyramid sinker. Another 5 feet away ..got a faint signal = scooped down over a foot and came up with another lure.
few feet away...another faint reading. Took a deep scoop...still down there - another full scoop and I got it.
Looked in as sand is filtering thru - sun is low in the sky so little dark in my scoop...I see a dark object and think I
got some sort of sinker. Sand filters thru its holes and I think I have a huge silver ring...I was wrong... Huge 10k
signet - happy camper! Was only in maybe 10 mins. Blood is pumping now. I headed out farther. I found a few more
sinkers and then it got quiet - so I turned and headed back where I started. ..got a good signal - sounded like another sinker
and was surprised when I see large disc in my scoop and at first I thought it was some sort of tag or token because
it was not blackened or caked - but as I pulled it out I could see Liberty bell on it - My 11th half this year!
Got excited again. About 6 feet away I get a coin size signal and thinking maybe silver dime - heart sank when I saw in was
a penny - then perked up when I saw head on it had feathers - 1893 IH penny. Worked around and only got a few nickels more.
Then as sun was getting real low and my light was fading - I made for deeper water as low tide was approaching - didn't get anything
for a while and then got a signal that barely fluctuated my background hum. It sounded like a ghost. Fanned spot with boot
and finally got a faint signal. Fanned some more and rechecked in ID mode and got high pitch = which is good on the CZ. -
took 3 scoops to get it and was shocked to see huge caked silver ring - couldn't believe it. Checked all around the area...
real slow, but got nothing else there so with the sun just above the horizon - I turned and headed back whence I came.
I got into an area where I was getting all kinds of old lead. Then I got in spot where I was getting these lead seals
huh.gif

-lead rings down deep and they go off like silver coins do. They are around 6 inches to a foot down. I get another reading
in the area and think I got another - as I look in scoop I see glint of gold and at first I thought it was a shell, but
then saw class ring sitting in bottom of my scoop - Oh Yeah!
I also got 2 Washington silver quarters and a silver dime. Not bad for 1 1/2 hrs in - boy I wish I had a few more hours of
sunlight. Hopefully there's more out there for another day

Excellent finds. Love the rings.

Missed one hunt and you came back with a vengeance, well done on the evening totals. Going to leave the silver honker encrusted or clean it up to see what's it look like?

Can't wait to see that old ring cleaned up!!! Great group of finds again!!! Congrats!

On the road right now - will take some jewelers paste to the 2 gold and see if I can get a shine on them
the silver one - in the old days Id hook up to the electrolysis - but prob will just see if I can get the crust off to see
what I got - could be a silver class ring - could be military or some sort of club ring - will let you know the results

still away from home - but decided to break the crust off for you all - since a few wanted to know what I have
my second guess was right - military - USN - marked sterling
at least WWII but could be WWI era
DSC00139.JPG has eagle on both sides of scroll
