I'm Actually Pretty Happy with This!

It was a button sort of day today but I did dig a complete Jew's Harp which is a first for me. Happy with that! Got a fist full of buttons and a scrap of silver in the form of a spoon bowl. Also dug what could have been a nice relic...old and massive dipper spoon. The wrought iron handle is intact but the bowl is toast.

Great finds!...Sometimes those Pieces of rusty iron will make your day...I have a whole heap of wagon parts that i display in my shed...well its piled up in my shed..lol

Can't believe it took that long to find a complete harp. IH and I have dug them on a very regular basis since day one.

Yep...Only the third one I've dug and the first here...the other two were in your area...weird!

1.gif I'D TAKE A DAY LIKE THAT ANYTIME

Iron Patch, that is weird. Seldom a day I hunt an old home site that I don't hit a harmonica reed holder but only a few Jew's harps in many years of hunting.:dontknow:

nothing like an old relic day to get the blood going...can't believe the jews harp was your first...

Wow! Love old relics nice finds.

You took the words right out of my mouth!

I've probably found close to fifty complete ones and countless pieces of them, they just don't seem rare in these parts , at least to me. I know many have never dug one and we're tripping over them lol

..some folks like myself have/had a jinx finding them....I finally popped one last year or the year before...crazy!

Looks "something" like my today's recon mission hunt.

Funny how it goes, you got many firsts, and cool stuff, I must have a dozen jews harps...hopefully that means I may get a complete shoe buckle soon (laughing face)

Your sites aren't early enough, because when we hunt the ones more into the 1800s we also find harmonica reeds. The reason it's strange for Romeo is his area is as old as it gets.

Yep...and I found this at my oldest site...

I hunt plenty of old sites..I haven't landed one yet...but someday I hope to find one...Congrats on yours and nice buttons too.

Great handful of relics! :occasion14:
I've never dug a Jew's harp either. All this time I thought those were Colonial clothes pins. ??? :tongue3:
Well done,
MM

The weird thing about those is because of the shape they can sound like a very small target, like a cuff button.

Yeah, it definitely did not sound like a good chunk of brass. Had to work for it to get a decent enough signal to not keep walking...

For sure, like some targets, you just don't know what it is until its out if the hole, many times it is a complete surprise to see a harp because of the weird signal caused by the irregular shape of them
