Detector(s) used
Whites 300 DFX
I have been detecting for a few years now and have picked my yard over time and time again. This is a compilation of my best finds as far as coins are concerned.

1936 half dollar - found after tearing down our barn
1908 quarter- Tesoro silver umax
1914 dime- whites dfx (6" from 1918 and 1920' wheats)
1901 nickel- whites dfx 6" from
1896 Indian head penny- whites dfx

Oddly enough I have not found any "modern" silver coins and wonder if the previous owners didn't metal detect as a hobby as well. I think that I am having most of my success now because I have dug out a large amount of junk and can now get deeper with the whites. Either way, it sure is nice digging up older coins, especially such a spectrum.

Those are some nice finds. The Barber quarter looks like it's in great shape. Congrats. :icon_thumleft:

I once did one of the last "old" houses on the outskirts of town. A lady was born in the house 80 years ago and for various reasons spent most of her life living there. She saw me MD'ing nearby and came over to talk. When I explained what I was doing, and showed her my finds, I asked if I could do her yard. She said, "you're welcome to look, but there aren't any coins in my yard." I explained that people unknowingly drop coins and other things when they are working outside. She insisted that she never dropped coins in her yard. I said, "how can you be so sure that, over your entire lifetime, you never dropped a single coin in your yard. She said, "because when I go out to work in my yard, I wear pants with no pockets." I checked her yard... I found not one single thing!

It's hard to say what the history of a place really is unless you find an eye witness! H Digs :)

Haha. That's a funny punch line to your story.

Nice collection of old coins! You are so lucky to have found them in your own yard! Welcome to TNet! :hello:

Sorry I forgot the congrats part of my post. Good finds! When I searched my yard I found pull tabs with my cheapie bounty hunter. A year later I tried with my x-terra 705 and found deeper tabs. When I got my explorer se pro I didnt even try again. My house was built in 1920. I guess people where so tight they searched a week for a lost penny. : ) or maybe someone else has dug all the goodies out b4 me.

Congrats great finds!

Thanks everyone for the appreciation! I had plans to venture out today but it is supposed to rain. Oh well, the garden could use it.

Any new finds?

The weather has been nice but all the rain has affected the water levels at the lake so I can't go out and hunt the beaches.

Wah wah
