IKE Dollars

I was also wondering if the person in Atlanta who got the Ike dollars found anything interesting in their bag of dollars?

I picked up two .... one thousand dollar bags of halves from Atlanta and got only a few keepers.

I also picked up four thousand dollars in half dollars from St Louis and found only about 25 keepers.

What area are most of the good boxes coming from?

I just got my bag of one thousand Ike dollars and have not finished going through all of them but have found several 40% and one cameo proof. Anything else I should be looking for?

Welcome. That doesn't sound too bad. 25 keepers in a 2,000 halves is just so-so, but not terrible, unless you're lejeune. Many here have gone through lots of skunk boxes/bags at time. In addition, I think finding any 40% Ikes is a pretty good day. I've read of others looking through $1,000 bags and not finding any silver ones.

If you are new to this, just keep in mind that many on this board only post when they come across good finds. Post after post of "I got skunked again!" gets kind of old, etc.

if you do some research on the 1972 ike, there are 3 varieties. all to do with the islands location below florida on globe. one of the types is worth a bit. its been a while since i did much with ike's so my notes on which is which is not good. worth looking into though. good luck

That would be me. A bag and a half direct from the armored car company and (except for 2 proof ikes) nada.

Do try and get coin counter bags. Mt first bag of $260 in halves got me 142 keepers. (2 ladies - 7 Bens - 133 JFKs)

The same branch manager is going to try and get another half bag for me this week.
