Hello folks been awhile since I posted but Ive been getting out of late. The first pics are from when the ground was still frozen,they started tearing hell out of the grounds around the high school,was able to hunt out there a couple of times but it was VERY MUDDY. Dug all the usual suspects,some clad, a junk charm,a really cool ensemble medal and a really sweet looking pumpkin ring :}
So last saturday I got to hook up with a guy I met here at T-net, Dave 'Always Lookin', We checked out a new spot of his he just got permission at, a private school from turn of century right smack in the hood. Worked it for a couple of hours dug a few coins,one wheat '41,Chucky Cheese token,a key,lotta trash,eventually we came to the conclusion the area we were working had been filled some time in the early 70's or so,we are going to try up closer to the building next time out there. Its a really big spot and should hold a few treasures. The rest of the items are from a couple of short hunts afer work this week,including a 1976 'VanSlam' thing and a 46 wheat.
So today I hook up with another guy I met here on T-net,if you can believe this he livesabout 6 or 7 houses away from me up the hill around the corner almost like fate. KentG is his handle and he is heavy down with this sickness just like myself,swinging an XLT. So we get to talking about spots and we've been hunting all the same spots and I saw him once at one of 'our' spots and he saw me once at a spot he had hunted that is like 3 houses down from him. So I load him up in the wifes van and we head down to the hood where I dug a '98 indian before it got to cold heres a couple of pics I took last fall of a couple of the places we were hunting around.
Its a very difficult area to hunt because there are millions of signals,wine caps,beer caps,pulltabs,cans and canslaw,if it holds liquor its laying around this area. The area was at one time a civil war POW camp as well as the original state fairgrounds then a very fashionanle neighborhood for many years. Then it was the ghetto for any number of years,currently the area has been enjoying quite the upswing with a lot of demos and rehab work going on. I dug a 46 merc first coin then a wheat from the teens but cant make out the last number,along with a copper cigarette case that sadly held no coins followed immediately by the top of a lighter. We enjoyed a fine lunch at a casual restraunt(McDonalds) then off to one of Kents spots which is 2 blocks from a spot Ive hunted,again with the trash,caps,tabs...you know the drill. I pulled out a few coins and a whatzit or 2,Kent found a nice little spot and dug five wheats then pulls out this sweet little chauffeurs license dated 1923 maybe he will post it,was a nice find looked like a little medal .
this last pic is the copper cig case opened up along with some sort of plumbing whatzit and a pitchfork thing the kids dug over at the old football field,I told them maybe I could get an ID,thanks for looking...Shoot
