No doubt you have heard how deeply in trouble the Museum of the Confederacy is. Simply, the Museum is perilously close to the brink of extinction because of a near 75% drop in visitor attendance primarily due to the relentless development activities of Virginia Commonwealth University surrounding the Museum's grounds and compounded by a most recent denial of crucial funding by the Virginia State Legislature.
Here's the bottom line. To survive and keep their doors open the Museum needs money immediately, and lots of it. Museum Executive Director S. Waite Rawls has just sent out an urgent "call to arms" to rally support for the Museum as the gravity of their situation is most dire. My name is Dean Charles Marshall, a committed volunteer. I strongly encourage all members to do all they can to help as the Museum of the Confederacy is home to the world's premier collection of artifacts and archives pertaining to the history of the Confederacy.
