If you had to purchase just one?

Having used all of the machines listed, I would go with the MXT. It is more versatile, you can hunt for nuggets with it.(it has a prospecting mode which the DFX and V3 do not) and it can be very easily adjusted on the fly with the knobs as opposed to having to stop and go through menus.

Once you learn the MXT its awesome on those deep coins, I've detected with others that have a V3i and can get as deep of coins as them with the right coil of coarse. We have some parks around here that have been detected hard for years and all thats left is those really deep dimes and wheats I use the white's D2 coil and the MXT with that coil running +2 gain I can get dimes at 10"+. I had a Garrett 2500, couldn't find anything with it. I sold it on eBay and purchased a MXT. Always finding stuff now!

The VX3 has prospecting mode. The V3i doesnt? Personally owning and really lovin my VX3 I would give it my vote. It's been a real game changer for me.

i went from an xlt to the vx3 and have not looked back. just today i was popping wheats a 7" no problem .. i can't comment on the other machines... good luck

I love my MXT, when it says it see's something with the proper vdi# it is definitely correct I'd say 95% of the time!
Good luck ! & Happy Hunting!
