I currently live in Appleton, WI. Right now, we are nearing a point where we could easily pack up, and move anywhere.

My question is:

If you had to pick an ideal place to move to, in the USA, to maximize treasure hunting, where would it be, and why?!

I would probably pick somewhere near the coast in the Carolinas or down by Georgia. You get your beach hunting, old park hunting, and CW hunting. I would say up near the New York or New Jersey area since it is older, but it gets cold up there which limits winter hunting.

Of course, the thought of Hawaii and just detecting pristine beaches daily for the rest of your life sounds pretty sweet as well.

I mostly water hunt - so easy one for me - Florida

SC for all the reasons bazinga mentioned plus rev war and just tons of old home/plantations to hunt. Prolly pick Charleston or surounding area.

Tough question. I guess it would all depend on exactly what the majority of your treasure hunting interest is and what your personal limts are. I live on the east coast of Florida, a lot of beach here to hunt along with a lot of history to research and explore. But, not a chance that I can go panning for gold or hunting for raw emeralds, shooting for nuggets, etc. So to answer your question, I'd really explore what I wanted to do, then if it was within my limitations, I wouldn't invest too much in only one place.

A motorhome, so where ever I parked that day would be my home. It would be where I hang my hat and swing my detector :icon_pirat:

If I was into gold propsecting, I'd probably choose Alaska. Its certainly friendly to prospectors than California.

If I was into beach hunting, I'd move somewhere on the east coast line that had a very popular (or several popular) beach(es).

If I was a relic hunter, any state within the original 13 colonies would provide you with ample opportunities, but so could the ghost towns of the Southwest is that fits your liking.

If you're a coin shooter, I'd stick to the sun belt states so you can search all year round.

Give us some info on your style of treasure hunting and we can probably narrow it down a bit.

SE VA produces a lot of spanish silver, war of 1812 relics, CW relics, etc.. beaches to hunt, just about anything you can hope to find in the US was there.. I never got into any Rev War relics but I know theyve been found in the same areas I was hunting and there were sites within an hour or so that have produced plenty of Rev War stuff
