If you had to estimate...

If you had to estimate, what percentage of CRHers do you think are

1. People who just like coins, enjoy collecting them, and find CRHing more interesting than buying coins outright.

2. People who are CRHing for a primarily financial motive, rather than a numismatic motive, and see silver-hunting as a pleasant/acceptable way to glean some side money or add to their savings.

3. People with compulsive-gambling or obsessing tendencies who are addicted to the thrill of the hunt; they can't resist dedicating a significant amount of time CRHing even if they'd like to cut down or stop.

4. People who are primarily trying to accumulate silver as a PM because they believe that the government will fail, or some form of Armageddon is coming, and most forms of currency or securities will lose their value while PMs do not.

I like CRHing but that doesn't keep me from buying coins outright,, so for # 1 I would peg it at 50%. I think silver as Poor person's gold. Almost everyone can afford silver, I don't know personally one person who buys gold. But as being financial motive, I would say #2 at 80%. Number 3, I put at 95%, especially the heavy hitters who do more than 10 boxes in a week. If that isn't compulsive gambling or obsessive, I don't know what is. And as for #4, I would say that is 100%. Why get into CRHing if not to find silver cheaper. I rather find silver at face value in rolls, than go to a LCS and pay through the nose for it.

Smiles and a box of silver for everyone!

1. 2%
2. 8%
3. 80%
4. 10%

Personally I'm a mix of the govt failing and CRH is an easy way to make my spare money work for me while still being accessible if I need it.

Wow, I think I'm a mix of coin nerd reason, plus a little addicted to the thrill of the hunt.

No clue on the mix on here for everyone else...

1. 10% out of 100%

2. 70% out of 100%

3. 22% out of 100%

4. 62% out of 100%

I know the numbers doesn't add up to 100%, but a lot of these people overlap. For instance, I am easily a 2 and 4, but I feel like the act of CRHing brings out the #3 in me.

Mostly 1, some 2, depending on what I find.

All of the above

I am into numismatics, also bullion. Also history. I'm also a truther. This hobby pleases me greatly.

I also work 4 10s over the weekend, so three days a week to hunt is awesome. Still need to finish my chicken coop, the birds are going to be eaten...

All 4 categories fit me. I got started with collecting just regular coins, and it spread to everything else.

I am definitely #2 and #4.. It has become a great way to make some extra money on the side, but I would make more if I picked up a part time job, so #4 seems to be the biggest reason.. Our currency is constantly being devalued.. So on top of buying bullion instead of putting my savings in a bank account, I love adding to the pile in any way I can.. My long term goal is to either be able to retire earlier than I would have if I didn't roll hunt, or just sell my silver when I am older and buy an RV to tour around the country with.. The worst thing that could happen is I die, and my finds will be given to my kids or nieces and nephews.. They will need all the financial help they can get considering where the economy is headed.

Make sure you educate them on what you've got so they don't just roll it and carry it to the bank!!!

#1 and #3 here. I CRH as a way to raise funds to buy some sweet key date coins... Hoping to get a '93 S Morgan with CRH finds soon. Also, I love the thrill of the hunt... Harmless way to feed my addictive tendencies lol.

Don't worry... This will never be done with any collection of mine. I learned this one the hard way myself. When I was a child my great grandmother gave me her collection. Obviously I went to a coin shop and sold them right away. I am sure I got ripped off considering my parents had no clue and weren't with me.

Ouch. I bet there was lots of good stuff in that. I hate hearing stories like that... I never got any of my dad's big collection. Our house got robbed in 1996 and we had LOTS of Peace/Morgan dollars and lots of other pricey stuff taken.

Thieves are the worst... I cant even imagine what I had in that box she gave me.. She was in her 90s at the time, so I would assume it was pretty good.. Watcha gonna do?

Oh how I can relate. I have 17 birds. Don't think you can save $ by growing your own...after I figger the time, labor and money, I should be getting about $5 per dozen eggs. These are $30 fryers let me tell ya...

2 and 3 and a little 4. HH, Maverick.
