hmm I Don't think I would have offered a full refund though unless each one has a Unique
serial Number.

someone sitting with some blown ones could do a swap

apparently there must be no new replacement

WOW I have a friend of mine who has a huge amount of old tv and radio tubes I think he should go and catalog all of them and start checking on prices for them.

It is hard to understand that two tubes could bring $5,000+.

Part of me wonders if the tube auction is real. Several years ago, I watched an ebay auction for a fairly common hay tool that sold for $4,000, IIRC. I was a little excited because I had a similar model ready to list.

I emailed the seller and asked why it brought so much, and it turns out that his wife and daughter were playing a practical joke on him.

I was surprised also. But if you want to see go to ebay. search western electric tube highest price first either list or completed. This is not the only one. Many on the bay....

There are a lot of people who restore old radios and other electronic gear so there is a market for old vacuum tubes. The trick, of course, is verifying that they actually work. I mean, how many people have a vintage tube tester laying around? I have sold a few NOS (tubes still in the box) and they did OK but nothing great. Of course, mine were probably a common variety. Wish I had a few of those $5K babies!

Every one of their accounts should have been suspended, at least the wife and daughter.

I got a hold of a vintage tube tester a few years ago that was being thrown away from a school and was pleasantly surprised with it's value. Took it to a guy that repairs radios and told me to sell it on ebay. It was a Tripplet tester and a very good model. Got $465.00 plus shipping! Not bad for free.
